The T9 Hunter PHEV, a high-performance plug-in hybrid ute from Chinese truck maker JAC, will make its New Zealand debut at the National Fieldays in Hamilton's Mystery Creek. The event runs from this Wednesday until Saturday, the 14th.

JAC's display at Fieldays will feature the T9 Hunter PHEV prototype, which is still in pre-launch development, as well as the T9 diesel ute, the brand's light-duty EV trucks, and Cummins diesel trucks.

The T9 Hunter PHEV is designed to drive more than 100km on electric power alone and a significant amount more in hybrid mode. It is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and dual electric motors, and JAC targets a torque output of 1000Nm for the vehicle, which is more than the BYD Shark 6.

JAC NZ General Manager, Andrew Craw, considers Fieldays a significant moment for the company. He aims to use the feedback from potential buyers to refine the T9 Hunter PHEV before its official launch.

Andrew Craw is seeking local feedback and Kiwi testing on NZ soil before committing to the new model. The exact launch date of the JAC T9 Hunter PHEV presentation in New Zealand is September 21, 2025.

JAC's nationwide support for its light-duty EV and diesel trucks is provided via the Southpac Truck network. The company has opened three new dealerships in Napier, Auckland's North Shore, and Hamilton, in addition to existing dealerships in Botany, New Plymouth, and Christchurch.

JAC aims to signal its future in top commercial vehicles with the New Zealand reveal of the T9 Hunter PHEV at the National Fieldays. However, the T9 Hunter PHEV has no firm release date in New Zealand, but the company is eager to gather feedback from potential buyers.

It is worth noting that the carbon footprint of the T9 Hunter PHEV is not mentioned in the information provided.

Fieldays signifies a growing footprint of JAC in the New Zealand market. Visitors are encouraged to visit JAC's display at the event to learn more about the T9 Hunter PHEV and other offerings from the company.
