AI and AV Collaboration in 2024: QSC Discusses Q-SYS Advancements

In the dynamic world of audio-visual (AV) technology, artificial intelligence (AI) is set to revolutionise the industry. At InfoComm 2024, Joe Pham, Chairman and CEO of QSC | Q-SYS, delivered a keynote titled "Everything Has Changed", highlighting six key areas where AI is poised to create major advancements.

  1. Smart Control and Automation – AI-driven centralised control systems will optimise AV device management, ensuring seamless operation and user experiences.
  2. Predictive Maintenance – By using AI, equipment issues can be foreseen, improving uptime and reducing downtime for AV systems.
  3. Enhanced Collaboration – AI-powered tools will facilitate seamless video conferencing and unified communications, making remote work more efficient.
  4. Personalized Experiences – Leveraging AI, AV systems will be able to customise audio-visual experiences to user preferences, creating immersive and engaging environments.
  5. Security and Compliance – AI will enhance content security and access control in AV environments, ensuring data privacy and security.
  6. Data Analytics and Insights – AI will analyse AV usage data to inform system optimisations and return on investment (ROI), providing valuable insights for decision-makers.

Beyond these areas, AI is expected to have significant impact in other aspects of the AV industry. For instance, Audio AI will focus on noise reduction, blind source separation, studio microphone speaker focus, context and awareness, and event detection. Video AI will concentrate on quality, auto-switching, auto-cropping, auto-tracking, noise reduction, artifact reduction, studio relighting, scene analysis, and gesture analysis.

Workflow AI is expected to play a crucial role in the design process, lowering the floor and raising the ceiling for user experience design and exceptional results. Generative AI is anticipated to be a catalyst for advancements in the digital signage industry and the realm of esports. Data AI will focus on predictive analytics, self-healing systems, and data analysis that human beings may not be able to pick out. Control AI will focus on gen AI for control, providing human intent.

As the AV industry gears up for 2024, 40 AV/IT companies are expected to unveil their roadmaps. A total of 15 thought leaders are expected to discuss next-generation audio, visualization technologies, streaming technologies, and esports. Moreover, 28 thought leaders will delve into visualization technologies, while 15 manufacturers are expected to support the AV industry.

Interaction with AI in the AV industry is expected to be natural and intuitive, making it an exciting time for both industry professionals and end-users. As AI continues to evolve, the possibilities for the AV industry are limitless.

  1. The digital signage industry will significantly benefit from the advancements in Generative AI, offering new possibilities for creative and engaging content tailored to specific audiences.
  2. AI-powered Control AI is set to revolutionize the field of AV technology, providing more intuitive and user-friendly interfaces that mimic human intent, enhancing the overall user experience.
