AI is swiftly transforming the job landscape. A vital tool for most recruiters, AI is also popular among candidates to boost CVs, enhance skills, or draft motivational letters. Some experts warn that up to 6% of jobs could vanish rapidly due to AI. But how many French professionals are hopping onto the AI bandwagon in their work and personal lives? What uses are they making of this technology, and how do they compare to their European peers?

A study* published on April 24th, 20XX, by Strategir institute and Norstat sheds light on these questions. The principal finding is that the French trail behind in AI adoption, as just 39% claim familiarity with the technology. This figure is lower than in Denmark (56%), Germany, and Italy (46%).

Although France lags behind in AI familiarity, interest is growing. The study reveals that 55% of respondents heard about AI for the first time through the media, while 10% encountered it in the workplace. "AI is still a less-explored topic in France," remarks Romain Barbet, Norstat France's General Director. "Media and social networks play a crucial role in fueling the public's curiosity."

AI in Employment: Regular Users vs Infrequent Tinkerers

The researchers also unveiled that nearly one in four French people (23%) use AI regularly in their professions and 7% often in their personal lives. In detail, the French mainly apply AI to correct documents, emails, and help draft texts. AI is also popular in leisure activities, with 38% seeking cooking advice, gardening tips, or assistance comparing products before purchase. Furthermore, 38% of respondents leverage AI for well-being and personal development, while 26% delegate administrative tasks to AI.

While the French are gradually adopting AI for regular use, they express skepticism of its power. Indeed, 25% of respondents hold a generally negative opinion of AI, while only 36% view it positively – a higher rate compared to the European average. "The French tend to be more wary of AI usage, demanding stricter regulation of this tool," concludes Léa Dupush, Director of Quantitative Studies at Strategir.
