AI Revolution in 2023: Transforming Every Sphere of Existence
In the heart of Hamburg, Germany, the NWX 2023 event recently concluded, marking the debut of the Xing Job World and setting the stage for the anticipated NWX 2024. This annual event, organised by New Work SE, is renowned as the leading conference in the DACH region, attracting a diverse range of companies and professionals.
Founded as openBC by Lars Hinrichs, New Work SE, formerly known as Xing, has been listed on the stock exchange since 2006. With around 2,000 employees spread across Hamburg, Berlin, Vienna, and Porto, the company continues to make significant strides in the world of work.
The NWX 2023 event was held in the HafenCity, Hamburg, from June 14-16, 2023. Among the keynote speakers was Sascha Lobo, a digital expert and author, who discussed the transformative impact of AI on the world and work. Lobo emphasised that AI will change every aspect of our lives, and companies should prepare for this transformation by establishing AI departments.
Petra von Strombeck, CEO of New Work SE, addressed the current challenges in the labor market, including the shortage of skilled workers, generational conflicts, and the role of AI. She emphasised the importance of fostering a 'we' culture and employer branding to attract and retain the right talents.
Prof. Dr. Alexander Spermann, an economist, shared his belief that AI can solve the skilled worker shortage and make us and our society wealthier and more productive. He predicted that new technologies will create new job fields and increase productivity, but tasks will significantly change, making further education and soft skills more important.
Innovation was at the heart of the NWX 2023 event, with the introduction of the Xing Job World. This new job fair format allowed around 20 companies to apply to more than 800 talents at the headquarters of New Work SE. This unique approach, known as "reverse recruiting", was a testament to New Work SE's commitment to revolutionising the recruitment process.
Meanwhile, Beiersdorf, a DAX corporation, announced its investment of around 250 million euros in the construction of a Beiersdorf Campus in Hamburg. This new campus aims to foster a 'we' culture and employer branding through haptic products and physical presence, with its official opening scheduled for September 2023.
As we look towards NWX 2024, the focus remains on providing a platform for discussion about work and the future. The event aims to highlight trends and developments in modern work environments, helping companies and professionals connect better so that employees can have a more satisfying work life and companies can be more successful by attracting the right talents. NWX offers an experience to explore innovative work forms, people & culture, technology, offices, and diversity, equity, and inclusion topics.
The exact topics, new formats, and more that NWX 2024 will offer remain uncertain, but one thing is clear: the event will continue to shape the conversation around work and the future, driving innovation and connection in the ever-evolving world of work.
