AI technology firm Beacon secures $15m funding to introduce AI systems to cockpits
Beacon AI, a company focused on improving flight safety and efficiency for both defense and commercial operators, has secured $15 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Costanoa Ventures, with significant participation from Scout Ventures, Sam Altman, and JetBlue Ventures.
The funding will support Beacon AI's expansion to meet the high demand for its services. The company, which has gained traction with ten Department of Defense (DOD) contracts and agreements, is planning to deploy its first product to customers.
Beacon AI's adaptable platform presents a dual-use opportunity, as it can serve both markets on similar aircraft. The company is working on delivering its flagship products: Murdock, an AI-powered pilot assistant, and Lighthouse, its data platform and flight management system.
While the new customers who are to receive their first products from Beacon AI are not specifically identified, the company is seeing growing commercial interest. Slots for 2024 are currently full, but the company is opening beta sign-ups for 2025.
In addition to the funding, Beacon AI is actively hiring across all departments. The company's mission is to bring its vision of safer, more efficient flight to the world.
With this Series A investment, Beacon AI's total venture funding now stands at $20 million. The company's focus remains primarily on aircraft represented in the commercial market and their defense twins.
This funding round marks a significant step forward for Beacon AI as it continues to innovate and deliver solutions that enhance flight safety and efficiency for operators worldwide.
