Aluto's latest introduction confronts Ostro Gravel, leaving a question: Is Ostro aerodynamic enough to prevent customers from gravitating towards Aluto?

Factor Bikes has expanded its gravel bike lineup with the launch of the Aluto, a versatile and practical addition designed for North American-style gravel events.

The Aluto, presented in September 2021, shares some similarities with the Ostro Gravel, but with notable differences that set it apart. For instance, the Aluto boasts a 5mm higher stack and a slightly longer wheelbase, accommodating the larger tires it can accommodate.

Key Features of the Factor Aluto

Cable Routing and Tire Clearance

The Aluto is equipped with moulded cable entry ports, facilitating easy cable routing. It offers generous tire clearance, accommodating up to 47mm tires at the rear and 52mm tires at the front, a significant increase compared to the Ostro Gravel. This design allows for the increased tire clearance while maintaining 2x capability.

Frame and Build Options

The Aluto frameset is priced at $3995 / £3995 / €4699, and it comes in six sizes: 49, 52, 54, 56, 58, and 61cm. For those looking for a complete bike, there are two full build options available:

  1. Force XPLR with Power for $6995 / £6995 / €8399
  2. Red XLPR with power for $8699 / £8699 / €10499

Both options are compatible with Shimano 12S or SRAM AXS groupsets.

Comfort and Control

The Aluto's handlebar, the Black Inc HB05 Barstem, is a gravel-specific design. It features a shorter reach and a slightly shallower drop, with increased flare, providing greater comfort and control during long rides.

The Aluto also features an ordinary seat post, a 27.2 round item with a proper clamp, offset to the side, ensuring rider comfort and adjustability.

Internal Storage and Aerodynamics

The Aluto retains the internal frame storage and air-channeling tubing found in other Factor bikes, making it not only versatile but also aerodynamically efficient.

Design Philosophy

The Aluto is designed to offer more tire clearance with minimal compromise on its race-focused characteristics, making it a practical and versatile choice for gravel events. It is intended to be more practical and versatile than the Ostro Gravel, catering to a wider range of riders while retaining the race-focused characteristics that Factor is known for.

The Aluto is available in two colours, Quattro Grey and Raptor Blue, providing riders with a choice to match their personal style.

With the Aluto, Factor Bikes continues to push the boundaries of gravel bike design, offering a bike that is both versatile and race-focused, perfect for North American-style gravel events.
