Amazon Unveils New Kindle Devices: Faster, Lighter, and Now in Color
Amazon has unveiled a new range of Kindle devices, marking a significant update to its e-reader lineup. The new models, showcased at a recent hardware event in New York, include the next generation Kindle Scribe, both with and without a 'nyt' front light, and the first-ever color Kindle Scribe. The devices, set to hit the market soon, promise enhanced features and improved design.
The new Kindle devices boast a 40% speed boost for writing and page turns, ensuring a smoother user experience. They also sport a glare-free, 11-inch display that mirrors the proportions of a piece of paper, providing a more natural reading and writing environment.
The devices have undergone a significant design overhaul, with an ultra-thin, ultra-light chassis that is just 5.4mm thick and weighs 400g. This makes them more comfortable to hold and use for extended periods. The new front light system features twice as many miniaturised LEDs, resulting in narrower bezels and uniform 'news' lighting. The improved front glass also ensures better pen glide, enhancing the writing experience.
In terms of software, the new Kindle devices come with adjustments and features for easier use. Notably, they now support sharing notebooks with OneNote and organizing documents and books with greater efficiency. The devices also support a stylus, allowing users to annotate and take notes directly on the screen.
Pricing for the new Kindle devices starts at £389.99 / US$429.99 (approx. €450 / AU$800) for the base Kindle Scribe without a front light. The regular Kindle Scribe costs £449.99 / US$499.99 (€515 / AU$915), while the top-end Kindle Scribe Color is priced at £649.99 / US$629.99 (€745 / AU$1,320). With their improved design, enhanced features, and competitive pricing, the new Kindle devices are poised to make a significant impact in the 'google news' market.
