Amber Enterprises to pour ₹4,200 crore into PCB manufacturing, considers further acquisitions
Amber Enterprises, a key player in the air-conditioner business and electronics manufacturing services (EMS), is set to make a significant mark in the PCB manufacturing sector with an investment of approximately ₹4,200 crore. This expansion aims to establish two large PCB manufacturing facilities: one in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and another in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh (Greater Noida area) through its subsidiaries Ascent Circuits and a joint venture with Korea Circuits.
The Hosur plant will focus on single-layer, multi-layer, and radio frequency PCBs, while the Jewar facility will produce high-density interface and semiconductor substrate PCBs. The goal is to become India's largest PCB plant and a full-stack domestic PCB manufacturer.
To fund this expansion, Amber Enterprises intends to raise ₹2,500 crore via a qualified institutional placement (QIP). The company has also leveraged India's Electronics Manufacturing Component Scheme (ECMS), applying for financial incentives to support these investments.
In the consumer durables division, Amber Enterprises is expanding its manufacturing capabilities to produce components and sub-assemblies for home appliances and consumer electronics, including air conditioners and lighting. This expansion is part of the broader electronics manufacturing plant planned near the Noida International Airport at Jewar, covering 16 acres and incorporating PCB assembly and electronics production capabilities.
Amber Enterprises is not only focusing on growth organically but also through strategic partnerships. One such partnership is the joint venture with Korea Circuits. The company is actively seeking acquisitions and new verticals to diversify its portfolio and strengthen its EMS. Its future growth plans include becoming a significant player in import substitution in the electronics components sector, aiming to capture about 9% of the domestic PCB market, which currently imports about 90% of PCBs used in India.
Additionally, Amber is investing over ₹800 crore to establish a copper laminate plant in Mysuru, an upstream facility supporting PCB manufacturing and expanding its footprint in the electronics materials segment.
These efforts position Amber Enterprises for substantial growth as a vertically integrated manufacturer within India’s expanding electronics ecosystem.
