Apple Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over Delayed iPhone AI Features
Apple faces a class action lawsuit over delayed AI features in its iPhones. Shareholders and users have sued the tech giant, alleging false advertising and seeking damages. The case will be heard in San Jose on January 7, 2026.
The lawsuit centres around Apple's promise of AI capabilities in the iPhone 16. Users claim they bought the device based on these features, only to find them delayed. Apple initially communicated a gradual rollout but has since released nearly two dozen AI features, including Image Playground and writing tools. However, the plaintiffs argue that the delay of two specific features, contextual Siri, supports their claims of false advertising. Apple's lawyers counter that the delay of only two features cannot sustain the broad allegations and that the plaintiffs cannot rely on Apple's advertising for their claims. The court will decide on the dismissal or continuation of the class action in the coming months.
The lawsuit against Apple regarding the delayed AI features in iPhones will proceed to court in January 2026. Apple maintains it has not broken any promises or enriched itself illegally, while plaintiffs argue false advertising. The outcome of the case remains uncertain.
