Approaching Manufacturing: 2027 Karma Amaris GT Coupé
The luxury automobile market is witnessing a shift towards more sustainable technologies, and one brand leading the charge is Karma. Their latest offering, the 2027 Karma Amaris GT, is an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) coupé that bridges the gap between hybrid combustion engines and full electrification.
Powered by two electric motors on the rear axle, a 41.5 kWh battery, and a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine acting as a range extender, the Amaris GT promises an exhilarating driving experience. With a combined output of 708 horsepower and 676 lb-ft of torque, this luxury hybrid coupé can accelerate from 0-60 mph in under 3.5 seconds, reaching an electronically limited top speed of 165 mph (266 km/h).
The Amaris GT boasts an electric-only range of around 100 miles (161 km), while its combined electric and gasoline range exceeds 400 miles (644+ km). This makes it an ideal choice for those seeking a blend of excellent performance and eco-conscious extended-range electric driving.
Production of the Karma Amaris is set to begin in the final quarter of 2026, making the car available as a 2027 model year. The body uses a lightweight carbon-aluminum construction on an aluminum space frame, while the design follows Karma's "Comet Line" aesthetic, featuring distinctive elements like swan doors, aerodynamic pass-through spoilers, and a unique "Americana-inspired" side exhaust nozzle.
Though interior details for the Amaris itself have not been extensively detailed, Karma's recent models have emphasised luxurious, driver-centric cabins with advanced technology and premium materials. This trend is likely to be reflected in the Amaris GT as well.
In addition to the Amaris GT, Karma has unveiled two new models: the Super Coupe Kaveya and the GT-UV Ivara Design Study. With a starting price near $200,000 USD ($275,000 CAD), the 2027 Karma Amaris GT is positioned as a high-performance luxury hybrid coupé that offers an exciting blend of power and sustainability.
