Arlo and Samsung SmartThings deepen their collaboration, introducing AI-empowered additions to boost home security.
In an exciting development, Arlo Technologies, Inc. has expanded its partnership with Samsung SmartThings, bringing new capabilities to the SmartThings community for easier smart home security monitoring. This collaboration aims to offer even more intelligent and responsive security features that seamlessly integrate into the SmartThings platform.
With this latest update, SmartThings users can look forward to improved visibility within their SmartThings ecosystem, as event snapshots will now be available for selected Arlo devices. Furthermore, the update will introduce two-way audio between SmartThings and Arlo cameras and doorbells, allowing for more interactive and immediate communication.
The new capabilities for SmartThings users are part of Arlo Secure 5, the next generation of smart home security. Arlo Secure 5 is powered by Arlo Intelligence, which uses advanced computer vision AI and recognition engines to deliver more detailed, meaningful alerts.
Arlo devices, such as the Arlo Pro 4, Arlo Video Doorbell, and Arlo Essential Spotlight Camera, integrate with SmartThings, enabling users to control and monitor their Arlo devices through the SmartThings app. This integration allows for centralised control, enabling users to manage all smart home devices, including Arlo cameras, from a single app (SmartThings).
Motion alerts are another key feature, with Arlo devices offering robust motion detection capabilities. These alerts enable users to make faster, more informed security decisions. Moreover, users can create custom scenes in SmartThings to automate actions based on Arlo camera events, such as turning on lights when motion is detected.
Arlo Secure 5's AI-powered object detection using Arlo's advanced computer vision technology will identify people, vehicles, and packages, allowing SmartThings users to customise notifications and automations according to their preferences.
Mark Benson, head of SmartThings US, emphasised the focus on enhancing the SmartThings ecosystem for a more intuitive and secure user experience. For more information on Arlo's smart home security products and services, visit www.arlo.com.
