Revamped Take:

H. Moser & Cie's Pop Collection Shines at Watches and Wonders

The Swiss watchmaker, H. Moser & Cie, struck a chord at this year's Watches and Wonders event with its impressive Pop collection. A spin-off from the Endeavour line, this collection boasts 18 timepieces, each boasting a stunning juxtaposition of eye-catching colors. The choice of colors, spanning a vibrant spectrum from greens and blues to reds and purples, is a testament to Moser's unafraid approach to design. But what truly makes the Pop collection unique is its crafting process.

Instead of traditional methods like enameling, Moser has gone the extra mile, showcasing its mastery by meticulously carving the dials from semi-precious stones such as Burmese jade, turquoise, coral, pink opal, lapis lazuli, and lemon chrysoprase. This rare technique adds an exclusive touch to the watches, making them not just a timekeeping device but a work of art.

The use of these natural materials, each with its unique color variations and textures, adds an organic allure to the watches. This approach is deliberate as the brand shuns paint finishes or enamel. The minimalist design is kept clean, without logos or excessive text, to allow the raw beauty of the stones to shine.

The production process is arduous due to the stones' inherent delicacy and irregular composition. Machining these stones requires precision and patience to avoid fractures while creating the ultra-thin dials. This labor-intensive method explains the limited production numbers, ranging from 28 pieces for the Small Seconds model to a solitary piece per colorway for the Minute Repeater Tourbillon.

The Endeavour Small Seconds Concept Pop measures 38mm, while the tourbillon and minute repeater models measure 40mm. They house the HMC 202 calibre, the HMC 805 with a flying tourbillon, and the HMC 904 with a hand-wound, partially skeletonized design, complete with minute repeater chimers at 10 and 11 o'clock.

For those who admire H. Moser & Cie's other collections, this Pop collection might seem like an abundance of Endeavour. However, the Streamliner collection received two new additions with colorful dials to cater to diverse tastes.
