Blogger's 'Smart' Watch Giveaway Ends in Police Detention
Hundreds of Aktau residents gathered on the embankment on March 4, lured by a blogger's giveaway of 'smart' watches. The event, organized by a local blogger, caught the attention of Mangystau region police who subsequently detained the individual. The blogger, not publicly named, had announced the competition on his Instagram page.
The blogger, Nurdaulet, had teased the giveaway on his Instagram, sparking curiosity and drawing a large crowd to the embankment. However, the police intervention put an end to the event. After detaining the blogger, police discovered that the watches were 'smart' watches, not ordinary ones as initially thought. The seized material will now be sent to the State Emergency Service (SES) for further decision-making.
The police identified the blogger as the event organizer and held a preventive talk with him. Despite not being named in public sources, the blogger's actions raised concerns, leading to his detention and the seizure of the watches.
The incident highlights the potential risks of unregulated public events and the importance of clear communication regarding giveaways. The seized 'smart' watches will now undergo evaluation by the State Emergency Service, and the blogger, following his preventive talk with police, is expected to cooperate with authorities to prevent such situations in the future.
