Boeing's Q2 Deliveries Hits Record High - Boeing Reaches Seven-Year Peak in Second Quarter Deliveries
In a significant turn of events, Boeing, the US aircraft manufacturer, has resumed deliveries of its 737 MAX aircraft to Chinese carriers in June 2025. This resumption comes after a temporary pause due to retaliatory tariffs imposed during the escalating trade tensions between the US and China.
The suspension of deliveries had affected key Chinese airlines and led to Boeing repatriating some completed jets back to the US. However, after the US and China agreed to significantly reduce tariffs for an initial 90-day period to facilitate negotiations, Boeing resumed deliveries, supplying several 737 MAX jets to Chinese carriers such as Xiamen Airlines, China Southern, and Air China.
This resumption has positively impacted Boeing's commercial aircraft deliveries, marking a recovery in one of its most important international markets. The second quarter of 2025 saw Boeing deliver 150 commercial aircraft, including eight aircraft delivered to China in June alone, most of them 737 MAX models. This rebound in China helped Boeing achieve a high monthly delivery total for June 2025, its best in months.
China represents about 10% of Boeing's commercial aircraft backlog, making it a crucial market. Boeing expects to deliver 50 jets to Chinese carriers in 2025, with 41 already in production or pre-built, underscoring strong future demand despite recent trade disruptions.
Alongside China, strong orders from other regions such as the Middle East have helped boost Boeing's overall order intake and deliveries in 2025. This has contributed to a backlog of over 6,500 aircraft, with more than 4,800 for the 737 MAX family.
Boeing's CEO, Dave Calhoun, stated in April that the company was "moving in the right direction" again. This development signals improving commercial relations and stability in the global aerospace sector for Boeing.

The resumption of Boeing's 737 MAX aircraft deliveries to Chinese carriers has been facilitated by an agreement between the US and China to reduce tariffs, and it has positively impacted Boeing's commercial aircraft deliveries, marking a recovery in one of its most important international markets. This move could influence the company's industry-wide and technology-driven employment policies, given the significance of maintaining strong ties with the finance sector in a challenging global economy.
