Boris FX Introduces Sapphire 2021.5, Now Compatible with M1 Mac Processors

In an exciting development for video editors, Boris FX has announced the release of its Sapphire 2021.5 update, bringing a host of new features and improvements to its Emmy Award-winning visual effects suite.

Highlighting the update is the introduction of the Nitro FX Transition Pack, a collection of over 50 customizable transitions designed for high-energy effects. Available to Sapphire 2021 users with Media Composer (2020 and up) for $49.95, the Nitro FX Transition Pack is ideal for use in promos, sizzle cuts, or trailers. The transitions are resolution-independent, ensuring smooth performance across various project resolutions.

Award-winning director and editor, Angus Emmerson, created the Nitro FX Transition Pack with the goal of making edits sizzle. Emmerson, excited to share his secret bag of tricks with the Avid and Sapphire communities, designed the transitions specifically for Media Composer.

The 2021.5 update also offers improved performance for artists working on Macs, with enhancements primarily related to the oneAPI Collective Communications Library (CCL). Support for output SYCL event to track the status of CCL operations and the addition of an OFI/verbs provider with dmabuf support are among the improvements.

Sapphire 2021.5 is available as a plugin for various hosts, including Adobe, Avid, and OFX. Current annual subscription and upgrade & support plan customers receive a complimentary update to Sapphire 2021.5.

Other notable additions to Sapphire 2021.5 include new features such as Adobe After Effects multi-frame rendering support (currently in Adobe public beta) and the addition of Lens Flare presets. The Sapphire preset browser now offers better speed and interactivity in the 2021.5 update.

Improvements to the Sapphire PanAndZoom effect were made based on customer feedback, specifically from award-winning veteran freelance editor Jonathan Moser. However, detailed feature information about the PanAndZoom effect in Sapphire 2021.5 can be found in the official Boris FX Sapphire release notes or documentation.
