MG Cyberster: The Fastest and Most Affordable Electric Roadster in India

The MG Cyberster, a groundbreaking electric roadster, has made its debut in India, promising high performance, long range, and premium features at a competitive price.

With a dual-motor AWD powertrain producing 510 PS and 725 Nm of torque, the MG Cyberster accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 3.2 seconds, making it the fastest MG model ever in India. The car's top speed is electronically limited to 200 km/h.

Powering the MG Cyberster is a 77 kWh ultra-thin battery pack, just 110 mm thick, offering a claimed MIDC-certified range of up to 580 km on a single charge. The car will be brought in Completely Built-Up units.

The MG Cyberster's unique features include electric scissor doors and a convertible soft-top roof, giving it a roadster styling that stands out. The interior is futuristic, with four screens: two 7-inch digital instrument clusters and a 10.25-inch central infotainment system. The interior design offers a sporty appeal, featuring performance-style seating, a flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, and a rotary selector dedicated to launch control. The seats are upholstered in suede and vegan leather, and the car is equipped with a premium Bose 8-speaker audio system.

Safety is not compromised in the MG Cyberster, with features including 4 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The car's body structure is designed for rollover resistance.

Braking for the MG Cyberster is handled by Brembo callipers, ensuring reliable stopping power. The MG Cyberster's chassis tuning has been led by ex-Formula 1 engineer Marco Fainello. The car gets 20-inch staggered alloy wheels, providing a sporty look.

The MG Cyberster's interior also features paddle shifters, allowing the driver to adjust regenerative braking levels. The car will be available with a portable 3.3 kW charger, a 7.4 kW wall box charger, and standard installation. MG is offering a lifetime battery warranty for the first owner and a three-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty for the vehicle.

Bookings for the MG Cyberster can be made online or at 'MG Select' centres in 13 cities across India. With a starting price of ₹74.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the MG Cyberster positions itself as one of the most affordable electric roadsters in the Indian market.

The MG Cyberster's unique roadster segment and high performance limit its direct competition in India. Potential competitors could include the Tesla Roadster (if launched in India), premium electric sports cars or performance EVs from brands like Porsche or BMW, and electric sports cars from niche or upcoming EV startups. However, the MG Cyberster stands out due to its combination of high power, long range, premium features, and convertible roadster design at a competitive starting price near ₹75 lakh.

The MG Cyberster's premium features, including a futuristic interior, electric scissor doors, and a convertible soft-top roof, contribute to its standout lifestyle appeal.

With advancements in technology, such as a powerful dual-motor AWD powertrain and a 77 kWh ultra-thin battery pack, the MG Cyberster brings entertainment through its Bose 8-speaker audio system and sports performance with a top speed of 200 km/h.
