BYD Expands in Europe with New Plug-in Hybrid Estate Car, Targets 300 German Dealers by 2026
BYD, a global automotive giant, is expanding its presence in Europe. The company, already well-known for its electric buses, is set to introduce the BYD Seal 6 DM-i Touring, a mid-size plug-in hybrid estate car, to the German market later this year.
The Seal 6 DM-i Touring, measuring 4.84 meters, competes in the mid-size class but also takes on compact vehicles. It offers two powertrain options: 'Boost' with a 10 kWh battery and 'Comfort (Lite)' with a 19 kWh battery. This versatile car provides ample trunk space, ranging from 535 to 1,535 liters, and a 66-liter fuel tank capacity.
BYD aims to strengthen its German network. By the end of 2025, it plans to have 120 dealers, increasing to 300 locations by the end of 2026. The company's expansion is not limited to Germany; it is present in 29 European countries. Lars Bialkowski has been appointed as the new CEO of BYD Germany. BYD's global influence is evident, with about a quarter of all new plug-in and electric cars sold worldwide bearing its logo.
The BYD Seal 6 DM-i Touring, the 11th BYD model in Germany, is expected to contribute to the company's goal of registering 50,000 vehicles in Germany this year. With 8,563 registrations in the first eight months, BYD is on track to meet this target. The company's commitment to expanding its production and sales network in Europe, coupled with its popular models, positions BYD as a significant player in the continent's automotive market.
