BYD unveils Han L and Tang L as its entry into the premium electric vehicle market in China.

In a design presentation by Chinese automaker BYD, the company has introduced its new flagship models, the Han L sedan and the Tang L SUV, targeting the premium segment with prices in the RMB 300,000 ($40,930) class. The Han L and Tang L are the latest additions to BYD's Dynasty lineup, following the successful launch of the Han in July 2020 and the Tang in the mid-to-high-end market.

The Han L sedan and Tang L SUV share several similarities, including their high-performance features and the continuation of their respective family designs, albeit with an upgraded design language from "Dragon Face" to "Loong Face". The Han L sedan measures 5,050 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, 1,505 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,970 mm, while the Tang L, featuring a three-row seating layout, measures 5,040 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,760 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.

Regarding the BYD Han L sedan, prices starting around RMB 380,000 to RMB 415,000 ($5,276 to $5,755) have been announced, making it an affordable luxury electric vehicle offering strong performance in China's premium market. The top trim version of the Han L boasts a powerful 1,084 horsepower and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds. The Han L will be offered in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variants. The single-motor variant of the Han L BEV has a peak power of 200 kW, while the single-motor variant of the Han L PHEV has a peak power of 115 kW from a 1.5T engine.

As for the BYD Tang L SUV, the search results do not provide explicit announced prices for this model after its debut in the premium market. However, considering BYD's general pricing strategy and market positioning, the Tang L is likely priced competitively within the premium SUV segment in China. The Tang L can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 3.9 seconds. The exact prices of the Han L and Tang L will be announced at a new event in March.

Both the Han L and Tang L are set to join BYD's current models in the market after their launch. The Han, initially launched in July 2020, marks BYD's first effort in the mid- to high-end sedan market, while the Tang is one of BYD's main models in the mid-to-high-end market.

Official images of the Han L and Tang L have been released by BYD, with their debut one day away. The company is poised to continue its growth in the premium market with these new flagship models, offering strong performance and competitive pricing.
