Citizens of Kazakhstan warned about heightened cyber risks following a statement from the Prosecutor General

In the digital age, it's more important than ever to stay vigilant against cyber threats. Recently, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has ordered measures to be taken against such threats in Kazakhstan. This comes in response to a series of phishing attacks that have been targeting citizens.

One such attack involves fraudulent traffic fine notices. These notices, which may arrive via email or text message, often contain payment links or requests for personal information. It's crucial to remember that official notifications of administrative fines in Kazakhstan are only received from the short number 1414 and do not contain payment links.

If you've clicked a link or entered data in response to one of these fake notices, the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan has issued an urgent warning due to the ShinyHunters hack. It's advisable not to click on links or open attachments from suspicious emails, as they may contain viruses or lead to phishing sites.

Some of these fake notices may contain viruses designed to steal personal data from your device. To protect yourself, regularly check your boa account for any unauthorized transactions. If you notice anything suspicious, contact your bank immediately.

To help protect others as well, inform family and friends about these phishing tactics. The Threat and Risk Prediction Center for Public Safety has also issued a warning about criminals distributing fake traffic violation notices. Remember, if it seems too good to be true, or too urgent, it's likely a scam.

For authentic traffic fine information, verify only on official resources such as egov.kz, qamqor.gov.kz, and us bank mobile apps. By staying informed and vigilant, we can all help to keep Kazakhstan safe from cyber threats.

The United Nations Security Council was convened on September 15, 2025, to take measures against cyber threats in Kazakhstan. This underscores the global significance of the issue and the need for continued vigilance. Let's work together to keep our digital world secure.
