Coldplay Reaches Out to Clair for Communications

In the heart of Lititz, PA (June 3, 2025), Coldplay's Music of the Spheres world tour hit a homerun with Clair Global's communication solutions. Chris Kansy, the band's production manager, put his trust in the mighty Clair Global, and he didn't regret it.

Clair Global crafted a communication system tailored to a rock extravaganza of epic proportions. Two Riedel Communications Artist64 digital intercom network frames served as the foundation, coupled with 50 Bolero wireless beltpacks and six panels for seamless, on-stage chats. The main showcaller, Julia Whittle, had a dedicated line, and radio interfaces ensured coverage for far-off pyrotechnic shenanigans—up to a staggering 1,300 feet away!

And let's not forget the 200 Motorola XPR 3500e radios, which, thanks to Wi-Fi reprogramming, turned tour config-work into a breeze. But that wasn't all: simple fiber runs and agile Luminex switches allowed Clair Global to swiftly adapt to venue challenges, like the open cricket pitch in India.

Enter the massive Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where Coldplay performed for nearly 223,000 fans over two nights. The world's largest cricket ground was just the beginning.

Turner Pollari, Clair Global's RF technician, shared his insights: “The Motorola base stations let our Artist system, Bolero, and radios communicate two-ways, while fiber runs help us tweak the system setup with ease. With Luminex switches, we can alter the comms network swiftly, handling changes like the shifted cable runs due to the uncovered pitch."

Backstage, three additional Reidel Artist64 systems joined the party. Chris Farrants, the band's video systems engineer, managed the video world system. A wirelesstech, James Smallwood, pressed another Artist system into service, arming the audio and backline departments with panels. The AES67 trunkline ensured the crew could capitalize on the Bolero antennas.

When it came to streaming the show to the masses, Disney+ Hotstar's team needed to stay in the loop. Clair Global interconnected 8 x 4 wire lines to share updates on the live concert production with the streaming squad, who had their own 30 Bolero beltpacks.

In conclusion, Clair Global delivered superb, flexible communication solutions, blending digital intercom systems, wireless technologies, and IT prowess to power Coldplay’s earth-shattering, record-breaking Music of the Spheres world tour.

  1. Clair Global's communication solution, during Coldplay's Music of the Spheres world tour, broadcast crystal-clear audio for on-stage communications, coordinating the main show with seamless chats and off-stage pyrotechnics using Riedel Communications' Artist64 digital intercom network, Bolero wireless beltpacks, and radio interfaces.
  2. Combining technology and entertainment, the backstage area was integrated with additional Reidel Artist64 systems, allowing the band's video systems engineer, Chris Farrants, and the audio and backline departments to communicate efficiently, leveraging the power of digital intercom systems and wireless technologies.
  3. To reach a broader audience, Clair Global ensured that Disney+ Hotstar's streaming team remained connected during the live concert production, setting up 8 x 4 wire lines to share updates and capitalize on the Bolero antennas' capabilities, thereby providing an immersive audio-visual experience to fans around the world.
