The Tata Harrier EV, a new addition to the electric vehicle (EV) market in India, is packed with advanced features and technologies, focusing on performance, safety, connectivity, and comfort.
Key Performance and Powertrain Features
The Harrier EV comes in multiple variants, offering both Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and Quad-Wheel Drive (QWD) options. The RWD models boast a 75 kWh battery producing approximately 235-238 bhp and 315 Nm torque. The top-spec QWD variant delivers around 396 hp combined (313 hp quoted in some specs) with 504 Nm torque.
Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes about 6.3 seconds, and the top speed is up to 180 km/h. The battery supports 120 kW DC fast charging, achieving 20-80% charge in approximately 25 minutes. The range for the RWD model is about 627 km (ARAI-rated), while the QWD version offers a range of 622 km.
Safety Features
The Harrier EV is designed with safety in mind, featuring 7 airbags including a knee airbag, a 5-star BNCAP safety rating for adult and child occupant protection, and a full Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite offering Level 2 autonomy. Additional safety features include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), blind spot monitoring, and an electronic parking brake.
For improved visibility, the vehicle includes a 360/540-degree surround-view camera system with a transparent view mode, a built-in dashcam, lane assist, front and rear collision alerts, and auto park assist.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The Harrier EV is equipped with a 14.5-inch Neo QLED touchscreen infotainment system developed with Samsung technology, a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display, and Tata Intelligent Digital Architecture Layer (TiDAL) powering connected car features. Over-the-air (OTA) updates ensure software upgrades, while voice command systems and smartwatch integration enhance user convenience.
The DrivePay feature enables FASTag and EV charging payments without a smartphone, and a 10-speaker JBL surround sound system with Dolby Atmos 5.1 support provides an immersive audio experience. Multiple digital key options, including smartphone, smartwatch, smart card, and remote key, offer added convenience.
Interior Comfort and Design
The interior of the Harrier EV boasts cooled and electrically adjustable front seats, a second-row “Boss mode” for enhanced passenger comfort, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, touch-based HVAC controls, a powered tailgate, and a dual-screen setup providing a premium cabin experience.
Other Notable Features
The Harrier EV offers a ground clearance of 205 mm and a boot space of 502 liters. The vehicle includes multiple terrain modes (6 modes: Normal, Mud/Gravel, Grass/Snow, Sand, Rock Crawl, and Custom) with a rotary selector for tackling diverse conditions.
The QWD model features a surround-sound setup enhanced by Dolby Atmos, while the premium Samsung Neo QLED touchscreen infotainment system co-developed with Harman offers an engaging user experience. The 65 kWh battery pack provides a certified range of 538 km (MIDC).
The Harrier EV is available in four distinctive color schemes: Nainital Nocturne, Empowered Oxide, Pristine White, and Pure Grey. Based on the acti.ev+ platform, a modified version designed for electric mobility, the Tata Harrier EV aims to compete strongly in the premium electric SUV segment in India.
