The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has announced a temporary road closure commencing on Friday, August 15, as part of Phase Two of the Etihad Rail Project. The road closure will affect roads connecting Maliha Street and the Sharjah Ring Road, near University Bridge.

Motorists are requested to use alternative routes during the road closure, and traffic safety instructions should be followed. No further details about the duration or extent of the road closure were provided.

The Etihad Rail project, a significant part of the UAE’s strategic infrastructure modernization and sustainable transport goals, is set to improve travel between the emirates and extend to neighboring Gulf countries. Upon completion, the rail network will connect 11 key cities and regions across all seven emirates, forming a 900 to 1,200 km network designed to significantly reduce travel times and provide integrated transport options.
