Cryptocurrency Investigator ZachXBT Unveiled
In the world of cryptocurrencies and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), one anonymous Twitter user, known as ZachXBT, has become a relentless crusader against fraudulent activities. ZachXBT, who joined Twitter in 2015, began their pro-bono Web3 detective career in May 2021, exposing various NFT projects and influencers involved in scams.
One of the earliest and most notable cases was the Billionaire Dogs Club NFT project, which was exposed as a scam by ZachXBT. The project's mastermind, French reality TV star Laurent Correia, was accused of using funds from the project to purchase high-value NFTs such as CloneX, Doodles, and MAYC.
In March 2022, ZachXBT turned their attention to Jennifer Lopez, accusing her of scamming users with her NFT collection, 'OG (Original Garage) Social Club.' Lopez's history of scams includes hosting fake giveaways and offering basic information about crypto and NFTs in pricey courses.
ZachXBT has also targeted several Venture Capitals (VCs) and NFT influencers, including MoonRock Capital, DarkPool Ventures, BlueZilla, BitBoy, and Jennifer Lopez. BitBoy Crypto, a popular NFT influencer, was accused of promoting scam projects and receiving payments for these promotions. Despite BitBoy's claims of rigorously vetting all paid promotions, data collected by ZachXBT proved otherwise.
Another NFT project that fell under ZachXBT's scrutiny was Pixelmon. Advertised as a high-utility NFT collection tied to a game, Pixelmon turned out to be a scam, raising over $70 million. The anonymous founder of the project vanished with the money and the incomplete roadmap.
Rogue Society, a robot-themed NFT collection, raised $5.5 million but the anonymous founder also disappeared with the money and the incomplete roadmap. ZachXBT used chain analysis to investigate projects and individuals, raising concerns about potential scams.
The Web3 PvP game SolChicks was accused of using fake bots, fake reviews, and other malicious strategies. ZachXBT's research revealed how Logan Paul used various addresses to redirect funds to or from his public address.
Despite the controversy and lawsuits that have come their way, ZachXBT continues to be a thorn in the side of NFT scammers. Jeff Huang, known as Machi Big Brother, filed a lawsuit against ZachXBT for their accusations of malicious NFT practices. However, ZachXBT's real identity remains unknown, with a court document revealing only that their last name is Zachary.
ZachXBT's critical investigations and controversial statements have made them a well-known figure in the crypto community. They are recognised for exposing insider exits and major token movements, often sparking debates and strong reactions from the market and investors. Whether they are exposing NFT projects like Pixelmon, Rogue Society, and SolChicks for various forms of fraudulent activities, or taking on influencers like Logan Paul and Jennifer Lopez, ZachXBT continues to play a crucial role in the fight against NFT scams.
