- Clean the Area: Gently clean the area around the stop pins with a soft cloth and a suitable cleaning solution.
- Reassemble: Once clean, reinsert the stop pins. Ensure they are seated properly and not too tight or loose.
Adjusting the Gathering Pallet
- Locate the Pallets: Identify the gathering pallets, which are usually part of the escapement mechanism.
- Remove the Pallet Fork: Use a pallet fork tool to remove the pallet fork from the pallet arbor.
- Adjust the Pallets: Carefully adjust the gathering pallets to ensure they are properly aligned with the escape wheel. This may involve slightly bending or adjusting the pallets.
- Replace the Pallet Fork: Once adjusted, reattach the pallet fork.
- Test the Movement: Wind the clock and check the movement. Ensure the pallets are engaging properly with the escape wheel and the clock is running smoothly.
