Customized Tesla Cybertruck Delivered to Irvine Police Department Force
Irvine Police Department Introduces Sustainable and High-Tech Tesla Cybertruck for Law Enforcement
The city of Irvine, California, known for its high adoption rate of electric vehicles, has taken a significant step forward in its commitment to sustainability, public safety, and advanced technology. The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has deployed a Tesla Cybertruck, outfitted for law enforcement, marking the first of its kind in the United States.
The development of the police Cybertruck involved a close collaboration between UP.FIT, IPD's technology division, maintenance staff, and Tesla. UP.FIT, a company renowned for its expertise in Tesla customization, is committed to revolutionizing the industry with purpose-built, turnkey solutions for law enforcement agencies worldwide.
One of the key features of the UP.FIT Cybertruck Next-Gen Patrol vehicle is its premium, hardened wheel system. The vehicle is equipped with UP.FIT Forged PD Wheels made from high-strength aerospace-grade 6061-T6 forged aluminum. These wheels are engineered to withstand the rigorous abuse associated with police and emergency situations, offering unmatched durability with high resistance to cracking or bending, even under harsh conditions.
The lightweight wheel design reduces rotational mass, improving acceleration, handling, and overall energy efficiency for the Cybertruck, which is critical for quick response and reliability in varied terrains. Each UP.FIT Forged PD Wheel comes with a lifetime, non-transferable warranty against bending or cracking under normal use, ensuring long-term durability and cost-effectiveness for police departments.
The wheels and overall UP.FIT package give the Cybertruck a bold, tactical look suitable for law enforcement presence and patrolling. Available in 18-inch and 20-inch sizes with a satin black finish, the wheels fit all Tesla Cybertruck models with a 6×139.7 bolt pattern, ensuring compatibility and ease of service.
The Tesla Cybertruck itself provides unique features like ballistic-grade stainless steel, bio-weapon defense mode, HEPA filtration, 4-wheel steering, and improved maneuverability compared to traditional police vehicles. The vehicle is equipped with a comprehensive suite of upgraded features, including an innovative roof-mounted Whelen lighting system, integrated rocker panel lighting, and a remote-operated spotlight system.
UP.FIT has installed a proprietary electrical system with a specially designed wiring harness in the Tesla Cybertruck, supporting the use of essential patrol equipment. The Cybertruck's innovative electrical system also allows for the addition of a rifle mount affixed to the underside of the fold-up rear seats for easy access.
UP.FIT prioritizes officer ergonomics, comfort, and safety in its solutions. The company conducts research and development to ensure solutions work seamlessly with the Tesla ecosystem. UP.FIT provides 1-on-1 officer training, including behind-the-wheel and emergency vehicle operations courses, to ensure a smooth transition to the new patrol vehicle.
Ben Schaffer, CEO of Unplugged Performance, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with the Irvine Police Department. UP.FIT offers infrastructure support to ensure smooth integration into fleets. The company is also involved in international partnerships and has deployed similar vehicles in various locations.
The Tesla Cybertruck is being used as part of IPD's DARE program, aiming to educate youth about the dangers of drug abuse. The Cybertruck's advanced technology and sustainability align perfectly with the program's mission to promote a safer and healthier community.
UP.FIT combines Tesla's safety systems with custom upgrades to deliver the safest and most effective police vehicles on the planet. The deployment of the Tesla Cybertruck reflects Irvine's commitment to innovation and its vision for a sustainable and technologically advanced future in law enforcement.
