Customs Raid Finds 80+ Anti-Black Work Act Violations in Franconia Hotels
A recent inspection by the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt has uncovered over 80 suspected violations of the Anti-Black Work Act in the hotel and catering industry across Lower and Upper Franconia. The inspection, conducted on September 22, 2025, focused on ensuring compliance with the statutory minimum wage and social security obligations. The inspection involved 27 businesses and 116 interviewed persons, with 30 investigations initiated on-site. It revealed 21 cases of discrepancies in social security contributions, 13 cases of immigration law violations, and 9 suspected cases of minimum wage non-compliance. The general minimum wage in the industry is set at 12.82 euros per hour since January 1, 2025. The customs will follow up with extensive inspections to compare employee data with payroll and financial records. The Main Customs Office Schweinfurt, in its role to secure social systems and state revenues, will continue to conduct inspections to ensure fair working and competitive conditions. The results of the recent inspection highlight the importance of these efforts in combating black work in the hotel and catering industry.
