Deadpool and Wolverine Retrace Their Film History Chronicles
Deadpool'n'Wolverine is kicking things up a notch in a few weeks, with Wade Wilson making his much-anticipated return to the big screen. If you're rusty on the details of the previous flicks or simply want a dose of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's killer, witty banter, they've got you covered.
Their entertaining camaraderie took center stage in Entertainment Weekly's cover story, as the two actors reminisced about the main events of the Deadpool films and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The latter serves as a bone of contention, serving as a pretext for the pair to throw some serious shade at the movie and Reynolds' initial, fleeting role. ("We try to leave this one in the past," confesses Jackman early on, with Reynolds admitting the film wasn't exactly their finest hour.)
During their recap of the Deadpool films, they dished on everything from the makeup used to transform Reynolds into Wade's disfigured visage, to the "affordable" X-Men cast throughout the franchise, and the meta post-credit gags in Deadpool 2.
If you've enjoyed watching Reynolds and Jackman's friendship evolve since the latter joined the Deadpool saga, you're in for a treat with this recap. The duo have been all over the Deadpool'n'Wolverine promotional material, trading barbs, showing confusion over earlier films, and taking swipes at each other's careers. (Reynolds' jab about his self-murder at the end of Deadpool 2 as "housekeeping" on Fox's dime earns a knowing nod from Jackman, who quips he too might need a cleaner.) Sadly, there's no recap of Logan, but it would've been a hoot watching them try to untangle the films' wonky-ass timeline.
Deadpool'n'Wolverine hits theaters on July 26. If you can't catch it on Disney+, tune in two weeks later for an FX marathon of the first two Deadpool films (and possibly Origins and Logan too).
