DEME Wins EUR 50-150M Deal for Nordseecluster B Offshore Wind Cable Installation
Belgian company DEME has secured a substantial contract worth between EUR 50 million and EUR 150 million. The deal involves the transport and installation of inter-array cables for the 900 MW Nordseecluster B offshore wind array in the German North Sea.
DEME will commence work towards the end of 2027, utilising its cable installation vessel Living Stone and additional supporting equipment. The project requires the installation of 124 kilometers of inter-array cables, connecting 60 wind turbine foundations to the offshore substation.
The Nordseecluster project, consisting of two phases, will feature Vestas 15 MW wind turbines. Nordseecluster A, the first phase, is already underway with foundation installation in progress. Wind turbine installation is expected to start in 2026, with commercial operation in early 2027. Nordseecluster B, the second phase, will follow with turbine installation commencing in 2028 and commercial operation planned for the beginning of 2029.
Upon completion, the 1.6 GW Nordseecluster project, located 50 kilometers north of the island of Juist, is expected to generate enough green electricity to supply the equivalent of 1.6 million German households. DEME's involvement in this significant project further solidifies its position in the offshore wind industry.
