DHL subsidiary, Dachser, received additional electric trucks from Mercedes-Benz, namely the eActros 600.
Dachser, a leading logistics provider, has taken a significant step towards emission-free logistics with the acquisition of seven eActros 600 trucks. These series-produced electric long-distance trucks, manufactured by Daimler Truck since November 2024, will be serving long-distance routes in Dachser's general cargo network specifically from the locations of Hamburg, Karlsruhe, Dortmund, and Freiburg.
The eActros 600 trucks boast a range of up to 500 kilometers without recharging and can cover well over 1,000 kilometers per day with intermediate charging during driver breaks. This makes them suitable for long-distance routes over 500 kilometers. With an additional eight vehicles scheduled for delivery to Dachser sites and service partners in the coming months, the company is set to further expand its emission-free long-haul transport within Europe.
Dachser has been using electric trucks for ten years, initially for last-mile delivery but now also for routes over 500 kilometers. The integration of the eActros 600 into Dachser's regular operation underscores its role as a driving force for the transition to emission-free logistics in Europe.
Alexander Tonn, COO of Road Logistics at Dachser, emphasizes strengthening the use of e-trucks on long-distance routes as a key focus. Winfried Sorg, head of the Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles Center, also considers the handover a significant step towards emission-free logistics.
It's worth noting that Dachser has already gained experience with the eActros 600, as Brummer Logistics, a major transport player in the German-Austrian food logistics market, has had a dozen eActros 600s in its fleet since last year. These vehicles are used on medium-distance routes, with up to 600 kilometers per round trip, requiring charging stops along the route.
However, the seven eActros 600s handed over to Dachser are in direct operation, not at Brummer. The deployment of these e-trucks by Dachser will not be part of pilot projects or isolated test runs, but in regular operation.
In February, Dachser put into service twelve fully electric e-trucks of the MAN eTGX type. The eActros 600 is another important building block for Dachser's consistent practical deployment of trucks with zero-emission drives.
With these developments, Dachser continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable logistics solutions, paving the way for a greener future in the transport industry.
The eActros 600 trucks, developed in the realm of environmental-science and technology, are set to join Dachser's general cargo network, serving long-distance routes with a range of up to 500 kilometers without recharging. Dachser's acquisition of these series-produced electric vehicles, a significant step towards emission-free logistics, aligns well with its ongoing business strategy in the finance sector, as these trucks reduce carbon footprint and contribute to a sustainable future. The integration of the eActros 600 into Dachser's regular operation also marks a crucial advancement in the science of logistics, underscoring Dachser's role as a driving force for this transition.
