The world's leading digital media company, TheSoul Publishing, is on the hunt for a seasoned Social Media Marketing (SMM) Lead to spearhead its international client projects. This remote-first global team, boasting approximately 2,000 employees in 70 countries, specialises in content distribution, localization, and social media management.
The chosen candidate will be at the helm of building data-informed strategies, designing campaign strategies, and owning social media performance reporting. With a proven ability to analyse and act on social performance data, including retention metrics, engagement rates, and content lifespan, the SMM Lead will be adept at leveraging these insights to drive performance-led strategies across international client projects.
In the ever-evolving landscape of social media, the SMM Lead will need to prioritise video and short-form content. Short videos, such as Instagram Reels, TikTok videos, and YouTube Shorts, dominate engagement. Video is preferred because it allows for audio-visual storytelling that holds attention better than text or static images.
The SMM Lead will also need to optimise content for each platform—YouTube for building trust and in-depth storytelling, Instagram for Reels and Stories, TikTok for niche communities and participation in rewards programs, and Facebook for a mix of image and video posts, including Facebook Live and targeted Facebook Ads.
A data-driven and agile approach will be essential, with the SMM Lead continuously monitoring platform analytics and industry trends to pivot quickly as platforms evolve. Testing creatives, shifting budgets, and tailoring content forms by audience preference is key to success.
The SMM Lead will also need to tailor content to the audience’s knowledge about the product or service—ranging from unaware to ready-to-buy—using storytelling and educational content to move them toward conversion. Influencer partnerships are vital, especially on Instagram, where 39% of consumers are more likely to buy products recommended by influencers. Building loyalty through niche community engagement rather than generic broad ads enhances ROI.
The SMM Lead will plan and schedule content with consistency, using content calendars and scheduling tools to maintain a consistent branding and presence despite geographic or client diversity. Multilingual and cultural considerations will also play a role, with localizing content linguistically and culturally to resonate with regional audiences being a best practice for international clients.
The SMM Lead will partner with Social Media Managers and Analysts, be comfortable using tools like Google Analytics, Sprout, Creator Studio, Social Blade, Looker, or similar platforms, and have expertise in social platform algorithms, SEO for social, and audience behaviour. The role also includes contributing to upsell efforts by highlighting analytical gaps and untapped platform potential.
