Digital Trade Authority introduces secure, reliable online platform for enhanced digital commerce transactions

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has recently introduced the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark, a digital badge designed to ensure the safety and reliability of online transactions. This initiative, a directive from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. under the Bagong Pilipinas initiative, aims to protect consumers from deceptive and unfair trade practices.

The E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark is issued to online businesses that comply with fair e-commerce practices, consumer protection rules, and applicable standards as outlined in Republic Act No. 11967, or the Internet Transactions Act of 2023. DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque emphasised the importance of strengthening trust in digital transactions, stating that trust is essential in the digital marketplace, and the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark empowers consumers to shop with greater confidence.

To obtain the Trustmark, businesses must complete an online application form available at [trustmark.dti.gov.ph](http://trustmark.dti.gov.ph) and submit necessary supporting documents. These documents include registration certificates from the DTI, Securities and Exchange Commission, Cooperative Development Authority, and Bureau of Internal Revenue. Once certified, businesses must display the Trustmark prominently on their websites, seller profiles, or product pages. Physical stores can also display it at their registered business locations.

DTI Secretary Roque also mentioned that the launch of the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark is a significant step towards fostering a secure and trustworthy online shopping environment. She further added that the Trustmark serves as a tool for consumers to easily identify legitimate online merchants, providing them with peace of mind when making purchases online.

For businesses seeking more information or additional requirements, they can contact the DTI E-Commerce Bureau via email at [email protected] or by phone at (+632) 7791-3282. The E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark is set to revolutionise the e-commerce landscape in the Philippines, providing consumers with a reliable and trustworthy platform for online shopping.

Online businesses that adhere to fair e-commerce practices, consumer protection rules, and applicable standards are eligible to receive the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark. This digital badge, a crucial component of the Bagong Pilipinas initiative, aims to strengthen trust in digital transactions by empowering consumers to shop with confidence online.
