Discussion between Armenian Prime Minister and NVIDIA and Firebird centering on a significant AI data center undertaking
**Breaking News: Armenia's AI Data Center Project Gains Momentum**
The ambitious $500 million artificial intelligence (AI) data center project in Armenia is moving forward, with key players coming together to establish the Caucasus' first and largest AI supercomputer. The project, set to launch by 2026, is poised to position Armenia as a regional leader in AI infrastructure.
The initiative is a public-private partnership between the Government of Armenia, Firebird, NVIDIA, and Team Telecom Armenia. Firebird, a San Francisco- and Yerevan-based AI cloud company, is leading the project and aims to develop the AI ecosystem in Armenia through strategic partnerships and AI model development.
NVIDIA, a major technological partner, is providing the infrastructure with thousands of its Blackwell GPUs. The company's CEO, Jensen Huang, believes that AI factories are crucial for the 21st century, and this collaboration will build foundational AI capacity in the region.
Team Telecom Armenia, a coalition partner, is likely to provide the necessary telecommunications infrastructure to support the data center. The specific roles of each company are not yet detailed, but their collective efforts will create a comprehensive AI research, education, and innovation hub.
The project, if successful, will serve as a major boost for Armenia's technology sector. It is expected to require significant electrical infrastructure, with a capacity exceeding 100 megawatts. Thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs are expected to be deployed, making it one of the largest AI data centers in the region.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recently met with Razmig Hovaghimian, the co-founder and CEO of Firebird, Rev Lebaredian, the Vice President at NVIDIA, and Alexander Yesayan, the co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Team Telecom Armenia. The meeting was focused on discussing the details and implementation of the project.
The Armenian Government has expressed full support for the initiative, which is expected to have a significant impact on Armenia's technology sector. The project aims to advance the development of Armenia's technology sector and empower Armenian engineers and scientists to drive digital transformation.
