Japanese cryptocurrency exchange DMM Bitcoin has suffered a significant hack, resulting in the theft of nearly 300 million euros worth of Bitcoins. The incident, which occurred recently, has left the exchange scrambling to contain the damage and reassure users.
DMM Bitcoin, a subsidiary of the large Japanese internet company DMM Group, confirmed the hack. A total of 4,500 Bitcoins were stolen, making it the largest crypto hack of 2023 so far and nearly doubling the cumulative damage from hacks this year to 473 million dollars.
