Versaterm Acquires DroneSense to Enhance Public Safety Response

Versaterm, a leading provider of software solutions for public safety agencies, has announced the acquisition of DroneSense. This strategic move aims to bring faster response times, enhanced situational awareness, and greater safety for first responders and communities.

DroneSense offers a comprehensive, hardware-agnostic drone operations platform, tailored specifically for public safety agencies. The platform's key features include situational awareness and mission management, Drone as First Responder (DFR) support, collaborative multi-agency operations, compliance and security, hardware flexibility and integration, and enhanced emergency response capabilities.

Situational Awareness and Mission Management

The platform integrates video streaming, mapping, sensor data, and radar detection (via MatrixSpace integration), providing a real-time common operating picture. This enhances safety by allowing operators to see classifications and tracks of other aircraft, helping to avoid conflicts during flights, including Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) missions.

Drone as First Responder (DFR) Support

DroneSense enables remote, fully autonomous drone deployments as first responders, expanding the speed and range of emergency response. Agencies can operate drones from a distance with FAA-authorized single-operator BVLOS missions, significantly boosting operational capabilities across large areas.

Collaborative Multi-Agency Operations

The platform supports rapid mission planning, real-time collaboration across teams and jurisdictions, and multi-agency coordination, streamlining incident response and de-escalation during critical events.

Compliance and Security

DroneSense includes a full compliance toolkit simplifying program management, with policy-driven tracking, auditing, and oversight to ensure transparency and accountability. It features enterprise-grade cybersecurity infrastructure for data protection and privacy, ensuring compliance with U.S. regulations including NDAA standards.

Hardware Flexibility and Integration

The software is compatible with a wide range of drone hardware and third-party integrations, including Parrot’s advanced UAV hardware, ensuring agencies can leverage diverse technologies without vendor lock-in.

Enhanced Emergency Response Capabilities

By combining advanced flight capabilities, real-time intelligence, and mission-proven technology, the platform supports lifesaving public safety operations such as search and rescue, fire response, and law enforcement activities.

In addition, DroneSense offers seamless live streaming and real-time collaboration across teams and jurisdictions. Agencies retain full ownership and control of their data with DroneSense's platform. The acquisition moves Versaterm closer to a future where drones are as routine as any patrol or fire unit, expanding Versaterm's public safety portfolio, and making it a player in operationalizing drone response as part of the command workflow.

Christopher Eyhorn, CEO of DroneSense, states that the platform was built to give public safety teams a smarter, faster way to use drones. The DroneSense hardware-agnostic drone management platform will be incorporated into Versaterm's Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Incident Command & Control systems, further enhancing Versaterm's offerings.
