BYD Sealion 07 Electric SUV Makes Debut in Nepal

BYD, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has expanded its presence in Nepal with the introduction of the Sealion 07 electric SUV. This premium vehicle, available in two trims - Premium and Performance - is now listed on the company's Nepalese distributor, Cimex Inc's, website, joining the Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal, M6 MPV, and Sealion 07 in the lineup.

The Sealion 07, also known as Sealion 7 in Nepal, boasts impressive power and performance specifications. The Premium trim features a rear-wheel drive, single motor outputting 230 kW power and 380 Nm torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.7 seconds. The Performance trim, with all-wheel drive and dual motors, delivers a combined power of 390 kW and 690 Nm torque, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 4.5 seconds.

Both versions of the Sealion 07 are powered by an 82.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering an electric range of about 567 km for the Premium and 542 km for the Performance version (WLTP or pure electric range variants reported). Fast charging capability is also available, with a charge taking approximately 0.53 hours.

In terms of dimensions and capacity, the Sealion 07 is a 5-seater D-class SUV with a length of 4830 mm, width of 1925 mm, height of 1620 mm, wheelbase of 2930 mm, and trunk volume of 500L expandable up to 1789L with rear seats folded.

The Sealion 07 is equipped with a host of advanced technology and features, including a 15.6-inch rotating central touchscreen, 12 DYNAUDIO speakers, and a range of driver assistance and safety systems such as ABS, vehicle stability control, and 9 airbags. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, smart keyless entry, push-button start, intelligent voice control, over-the-air updates, and a digital customizable driver display are also standard features.

While pricing details for the Sealion 07 in Nepal have not been disclosed, the starting price for the Sealion 07 EV in China is RMB 189,800 ($26,390), with the Performance trim priced higher. In comparison, the starting price for the Sealion 07 in Nepal is 7.499 million Nepalese rupees ($53,620).

The Sealion 07 marks BYD's sixth model available in Nepal, following the introduction of the Atto 3 in October 2022, which was the company's first passenger vehicle model available in the Nepalese market.

In other news, BYD launched its new battery electric vehicle technology platform, e-Platform 3.0 Evo, in China on May 10, 2024. The exchange rate for 1 US dollar is currently 139.88 Nepalese Rupees.
