Enhanced mobile communication services in Kulmbach district by Telekom
In a move to enhance rural and suburban connectivity, Deutsche Telekom is expanding its mobile network in the Kulmbach district over the next three years. This expansion plan includes the construction of several new mobile network sites and upgrades to existing ones.
The new sites are located in Kulmbach and Presseck-Wartenfels, with two already brought into operation in the past four weeks. The expansion is part of a broader strategy to improve coverage and capacity, particularly in rural areas.
Existing sites will be upgraded with advanced technologies. Many current sites will be enhanced to support faster and more reliable LTE connections. Telekom will also introduce 5G technology across the district, starting with core urban and high-demand areas and gradually expanding.
Currently, Telekom operates 45 mobile sites in Kulmbach district, with eight more planned and ten existing sites to be expanded with LTE or 5G. The goal is to deliver robust, high-speed mobile coverage ensuring that both LTE and 5G services are widely available in Kulmbach district by the end of this expansion period.
Landlords who offer areas for new sites receive a long-term, location-appropriate rent. Interested landlords can contact Deutsche Funkturm for site offers at www.dfmg.de/standortangebot. More information about mobile network availability in the district can be found at www.telekom.de/netzausbau.
Deutsche Telekom's mobile network in Germany has been confirmed as the best by specialist magazines Chip, connect, ComputerBild, and Imtest. The network's improvements include the Advanced Mobile Location (AML) emergency call technology and the Cell Broadcast warning system. AML automatically transmits the caller's location to the emergency control center when calling 112, while Cell Broadcast sends danger alerts to mobile phones in the affected radio cell, for example in case of major fires, gas explosions, or floods.
Markus Jodl, spokesperson for Deutsche Telekom, stated that bandwidth demand is increasing by around 30% per year. Deutsche Telekom AG has improved mobile network coverage in Kulmbach district, maintaining its momentum in mobile network expansion.
The coverage now reaches 97% of the district's population. Deutsche Telekom is seeking cooperation with municipalities or property owners to lease areas for new sites. The new sites, such as the one in Kulmbach serving the area along the Bayern-Nord railway line, are crucial in meeting the growing demand for mobile connectivity.
