Examples of Innovation and Change in the Auto Industry

Baden-Württemberg, a leading hub for the automotive industry, is taking significant steps to support its transformation. Six regional networks have been funded until the end of 2025 to drive change in the sector. These networks, each with a unique focus, aim to foster innovation, digitalisation, and transportation solutions.

The networks include:

  1. Cluster Automotive Region Stuttgart 2.0 (CARS 2.0)
  2. Transformation Network Nordschwarzwald
  3. Network TRANSFORMOTIVE Region Heilbronn-Franken
  4. Transformation Innovation Mobility (TIM) for the Allgäu-Bodensee-Oberschwaben region
  5. AuTOS Network for Southwest region Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg
  6. Future Ostwürttemberg Transformation Network

The Guidance Center, based at e-mobil BW, plays a crucial role in supporting these networks. It offers individual guidance conversations, thematic events, and thematic short studies to build and transfer knowledge in the industry. The state supports the work of the transformation networks with various measures, such as the establishment of the e-mobil BW state liaison office, the Consulting Voucher "Transformation of the Automotive Industry", and the Free and Open Source Software Consulting Voucher.

One of the key areas of focus for these networks is the economy, digitalization, and transportation. For instance, WAFIOS AG in Reutlingen and Innomotics in Tübingen, both renowned names in the industry, are focusing on e-mobility solutions. WAFIOS AG has an E-Mobility Campus that houses the entire e-mobility area of the company, while Innomotics, a successful electric motor manufacturer in Tübingen-Kilchberg, is making strides in electric motor production.

The automotive industry is currently undergoing a profound structural change, and the "Future Fund Automotive Industry" is funding the establishment of these regional transformation networks to help companies navigate this transition. The state has invested over 400 million euros since 2017 to support companies in this transition.

The Ministry of Science, Work and Tourism, which oversees these initiatives, has a media library with photos for download. For more information, the ministry can be contacted via email, press office, or a contact form.

These regional transformation networks are expected to create synergies, fostering innovation and driving the automotive industry forward in Baden-Württemberg.
