Expanding Discrepancy in Digital Income for Western Union Unveiled

================================================================================

In the latest report on key trends in remittances, Western Union continues to lead in digital revenue growth, but its rivals are closing the gap.

Western Union's digital revenue, reported under its Branded Digital segment, grew by 6% in revenue and 9% in transactions year-over-year for Q2 2025. The company's digital revenue for Q2 2025 was approximately $257 million. Western Union’s digital revenue forms a significant part of its total, but the core Consumer Money Transfer business saw an 8% segment drop overall.

Intermex, recently acquired by Western Union, has shown strong growth momentum in digital adoption, with digital revenue growing at an average of 60% during FY 2024. However, digital revenue still accounts for only about 3-4% of Intermex's total revenue as of Q1 2025.

Data gaps exist for Remitly, Wise, and Euronet in this specific Q2 2025 snapshot. However, industry trends identify digital-first players like Remitly and Wise as strong growth contributors in the digital money transfer space, typically posting double-digit percentage increases in digital transactions and revenues in market reports outside the current data set.

Euronet's Money Transfer division, which blends electronic channels with agent networks, is experiencing double-digit growth in its digital money transferred business, but no precise Q2 2025 figures were retrievable.

In Q4 2023, Wise's consumer division reported $45 million more digital revenue than Western Union, while Remitly reported $40 million more. Western Union's digital share of revenue increased to around 21-22% from 2022 onwards.

Although Western Union is currently leading in digital revenue growth, the gap between it and its rivals is expected to widen further in the coming quarters. The report does not predict any changes in the digital revenue gap between Euronet, Intermex, and other money transfer players in the coming quarters.

The ongoing development of digital revenues in the money transfer industry was highlighted in the report, underscoring the importance of digital adoption for these companies to stay competitive.
