Father-Son Duo Launches Unocconi to Bring Shower Water Heat Recovery to Germany
Unocconi GmbH, a startup specializing in heat recovery from shower water, has launched in Filderstadt. Founded by 60-year-old industrial engineer Steffen Nittbaur and his 24-year-old son Valentin, the company aims to bring this energy-saving method to Germany, where it's currently underutilised due to regulatory hurdles.
Steffen Nittbaur, who left Mercedes-Benz after 25 years, established Unocconi to tackle the issue of wasted heat in shower water. His son Valentin, with a background in business administration and machine tool sales, joins him in this venture.
The use of shower water heat recovery is prevalent in several European countries. Germany and Austria, for instance, have each installed over 120,000 systems for thermal storage from wastewater. However, this method remains barely known in Germany due to regulatory obstacles. Unocconi hopes to change this by focusing on decentralized heat recovery, one of the most efficient energy-saving measures in the building sector.
Steffen Nittbaur's expertise in environmental sciences, earned through distance learning, drives the company's mission. He believes that with increasing energy prices and regulations, recovering heat from shower water will become increasingly important.
Unocconi GmbH, founded by Steffen and Valentin Nittbaur, is set to promote shower water heat recovery in Germany. With Steffen's extensive experience and Valentin's business acumen, the company is well-positioned to overcome regulatory hurdles and bring this efficient energy-saving method to German households.
