Federal Police Arrests Disrupt Suspected Smuggling Ring at Lindau and Hörbranz Border Crossing
Federal Police in Lindau and at the Hörbranz border crossing have made significant arrests this week, disrupting suspected smuggling operations. A 30-year-old man and a 24-year-old Tunisian man were taken into custody, while several others were reported for aiding and abetting attempted illegal entry.
On Wednesday, officers stopped a car with a Berlin license plate at the Hörbranz border crossing. Inside were three Turkish nationals, who were later reported for attempted illegal entry. The driver, the man's father, was also reported for aiding and abetting the offence.
The following day, at Lindau-Reutin station, Federal Police checked passengers of a EuroCity train. Among them was a 30-year-old man, who was found to be smuggled into Austria via Bosnia-Herzegovina. He did not have a valid residence permit and was reported for attempted illegal entry. A 20-year-old German woman who aided him was also reported but later released.
Investigations into a suspected smuggling ring at the Schengen external border are ongoing. No specific organization has been named in relation to these investigations.
The 30-year-old man and the 24-year-old Tunisian man are currently in deportation detention centers. The driver and the German woman have been reported for aiding and abetting attempted illegal entry. Further investigations are underway to dismantle the suspected smuggling ring and bring those responsible to justice.
