Final Chimes: Inaugural Graduation in Latest School by Zhyly Zhurek
First School of the Future Opens in Shelek, Redefining Rural Education
In the picturesque village of Shelek, Almaty region, a new chapter in education has commenced. The Abdulai Kairdar Educational Institution, a monumental establishment constructed through partnership with Beeline Kazakhstan and its corporate foundation, Zhyly Zhurek, inaugurated its doors on September 1, 2024. As the final bell echoed for the first time, it marked the fulfillment of a promise for a promising future for the village's students.
The school's grandeur extends beyond its impressive scale—13,000 square meters, three stories, accommodate 900 students. Its modern infrastructure is as captivating as its size, housing innovative labs, STEM and robotics classrooms, and a library with a automated book retrieval system. The library offers a serene environment devoid of distractions, motivating students to immerse themselves in reading and extra-curricular activities. Alongside sports halls, an auditorium, game and creative studios, the school ensures that students find something engaging to delve into long after school hours.
Speaking on behalf of the Zhyly Zhurek foundation, its director, Anar Zhumagulova, expressed their commitment to the institution, stating, "We have equipped the school with top-tier technology and handed it over to the state. However, our sense of responsibility has not waned. We continue to support it through workshops, courses, library enrichments, and meetings with notable figures. We believe that children from rural areas deserve equal opportunities for development and education as their urban counterparts."
The inauguration of the school last year brought about a wave of positive transformation in the region, alleviating the burden on other educational institutions and setting a precedent for successful one-shift learning. The students, now better equipped with time and resources, can actively pursue their passions, be it creativity, sports, science, or technology.
Lazzat Karabayeva, the school's director, proudly shared her observations, stating, "Even students from lower grades are proficient in using computers. They approach classes with keen interest and eagerness, creating projects in the computer labs. There's an increased sense of motivation and discipline among the students, who engage actively in competitions, winning prizes. And the teachers relish the opportunity to teach in such an inspiring environment."
Pride and anticipation are palpable in the hearts of the graduating class of 2024. Eight students are vying for the prestigious "Altyn belgi," while two are aspiring for a special diploma. The close-knit community of Shelek is already submitting applications to transfer their children from other schools, with the student count projected to surpass the anticipated capacity next year.
The graduation ceremony for the 11th grade concluded in a traditional vein, with wisdom from teachers, the melody of a farewell waltz, and heartfelt emotions. Alikhan Zhakpay, one of the graduates chasing the "Altyn belgi," aspires to pursue acting. He reminisced on the extraordinary year spent within the school's walls, stating, "I plan to join the Zhurgenov Academy. Despite my affinity for mathematics and physics, my creativity yearns for expression. I feel fortunate to have spent my last school year within the confines of a real school of the future, a visionary institution that has left us with unforgettable memories."
Adiya Bespaeva, another graduate, dreams of returning to her alma mater as a teacher. "I am drawn to Russian, English, and history, and I wish to become an English teacher. This school inspires me, and I cannot fathom leaving its embrace forever. Once I graduate from university, I hope to return here as a teacher."
While this social initiative by Beeline Kazakhstan and Zhyly Zhurek is just the beginning, it serves as a testament to the potential of corporate social responsibility to shape the future and positively influence society. Previously, the company has renovated eight rural schools, but the construction of a new school from scratch signifies a bold and inspiring shift in their commitment. As for future developments, only time will tell.
