Funding of $3 million in a seed round secured by Blockscout for the expansion of their blockchain data exploration platform.

Blockscout, a leading open-source blockchain explorer, has announced the successful completion of a $3 million seed funding round led by 1kx. The funding will be primarily used to advance and expand the platform's services, with a focus on integrating social elements and AI-enabled tooling directly into the dashboard.

Blockscout's open-source EVM explorer is crucial in today's modular, multichain world. It provides users with network activity insights for over 600 supported networks, including on-chain transactions, wallets, NFTs, ENS, addresses, and dApps. This makes it an affordable alternative to expensive EaaS offerings for nascent projects.

The fresh capital will also be used to make the deployment of Blockscout's Explorer-as-a-Service easier and more accessible. This service will be further developed to support new projects seeking customization and deepen involvement with existing chains.

Nichanan Kesonpat, a Research Analyst at 1kx, emphasized the importance of block explorers in the Web3 ecosystem. Igor Barinov, Founder and CEO of Blockscout, stated that Blockscout will be the default setting for all new and existing EVM chains.

The platform's focus on AI-enabled tooling and social features indicates a strategic focus on leveraging artificial intelligence to provide enhanced insights and interactions for users across its many supported networks. This aligns with general trends in blockchain infrastructure projects securing seed funding to build out advanced, scalable, and AI-augmented capabilities.

Recent releases show that Blockscout is actively developing its front-end and improving the user interface, as evidenced by frequent updates addressing bug fixes, UI/toolkit improvements, and advanced filtering functions in its GitHub repository.

The planned uses of the funding suggest that it will be directed toward scaling infrastructure to maintain performance across numerous blockchain networks, expanding AI-driven features for contract verification, data analytics, and community social elements, and enhancing UI/UX design and developer tools to improve accessibility and engagement.

In addition to the seed funding, the round also included participation from Primitive Ventures, Gnisis, and several angel investors such as Evan Van Ness, Alex Svanevik, Kartik Talwar, Anton Bukov, and Stefan George.

Blockscout's open-source tools enable projects to host their own explorer, offering immediate insights into network activity. Chains can either use Blockscout's open-source software to host their own server or pay them to host an explorer on their behalf. This unmatched transparency and accessibility serve everyone in the crypto space, from developers to everyday users.

With the new funding, Blockscout is poised to become the main platform for verifying all information on blockchains and exploring dApps in a safe way, further cementing its position as a key player in the blockchain ecosystem.
