Geely to Introduce Five New Vehicle Models in the Second Half of 2025
Geely Aims High with Sales Target and New Hybrid Models
Chinese automaker Geely has announced ambitious plans for the rest of 2021, with a focus on expanding its product line and increasing sales.
At the 2025 mid-year business conference, Geely Auto's CEO, Gan Jiayue, revealed that the company aims to sell 3 million vehicles this year, a significant increase from its initial target of 2.71 million. This new goal represents a 11 percent rise from the original target.
To achieve this sales target, Geely Auto is launching five new hybrid models in 2021. These include the Zeekr 9our X SUV, Lynk & Co's Lynk 10 EM-P sedan, Geely Galaxy A7 sedan, and Geely Galaxy M9 SUV. While the fifth model has not been officially named, it is inferred to be the Zeekr 8X SUV based on available information from the same timeframe.
The new hybrid models are part of Geely's strategy to support its sales goals and product expansion this year. The company sold 1,409,180 vehicles in the first half of 2021, a 47 percent increase year-on-year, with the Geely brand accounting for 1,164,303 vehicles, up 30 percent year-on-year. Notably, the Geely Galaxy sold 548,408 vehicles in the first half of 2021.
In addition to these hybrid models, Geely also saw a surge in the sales of pure electric vehicles. The company sold 510,803 pure electric vehicles in the first half of 2021, a 173 percent increase year-on-year.
Geely's subsidiaries, Zeekr and Lynk & Co, also reported positive growth. Zeekr sold 90,740 vehicles in the first half of 2021, up 3 percent year-on-year, while Lynk & Co sold 154,137 vehicles, a 22 percent increase year-on-year.
In an effort to reach its sales target of 3 million vehicles in 2021, Geely Auto plans to sell 1,590,820 vehicles in the second half of the year, averaging 265,137 vehicles per month. The company remains committed to its goal and will make every effort to achieve it.
