Düsseldorf's Rhine Carnival Brings Thrilling Drone Show to Celebrations
Extravagant Drone Display at Düsseldorfer Rheinkirmes - Giant Drone Spectacle Illuminates Dusseldorf's Rhine Riverfront
Get ready for an electrifying twist at this year's Rhine Carnival in Düsseldorf! Not only will the event feature the traditional fireworks display, but for the first time, a dazzling drone show will take center stage! The St. Sebastianus Shooting Society has revealed that an impressive 1,000 drones will light up the skies with a breathtaking light and music extravaganza on two special nights. This grand spectacle is set to be one of the largest drone shows Germany has ever seen, happening on July 12 and 18, during the carnival.
"A fireworks-free Rhine Carnival? Not a chance!" declared Sven Gerling, CEO of St. Sebastianus Event GmbH, affirming the continuation of the dazzling fireworks display. The fireworks are scheduled to light up the nights for the coming years as well. The drone show serves as an exciting addition to the celebrations, aimed at drawing in new attendees. Last year, a drone show was on the cards but had to be scrapped at the last minute due to organizational hiccups.
The Rhine Carnival is all set to roll from July 11 to 20, filling these ten days with fun, laughter, and revelry. Across the approximately 165,000 square meter festival site, more than 300 showmen will set up their thrilling rides and boisterous beer tents, making the Düsseldorf Rhine Carnival one of the largest folk festivals in North Rhine-Westphalia.
As drone shows become increasingly popular as a safer and more eco-friendly alternative to fireworks in many parts of the world, Düsseldorf too is considering expanding the fireworks ban on New Year's Eve and organizing a central drone show instead. Although a corresponding motion regarding this matter was discussed in the city council in February, there's been no official word yet on whether traditional fireworks will be phased out in favor of drone shows for New Year's Eve in the near future.
