Google Revamps Home Security: Introduces Google Home Premium
Google has revamped its home security service, previously known as Nest Aware, and renamed it Google Home Depot Premium. The new service offers two tiers: Standard and Advanced, with varying features and pricing.
The Standard tier, priced at $10 per month or $100 annually, provides 30 days of event-based video history, whole-home history, intelligent alerts, sound detection, and emergency calling. For those seeking more, the Advanced tier costs $20 per month or $200 annually, offering 60 days of event video history and up to 10 days of 24/7 video history.
Google Home Depot Premium also introduces an AI Pro plan for $19.99/month, which includes the Standard tier and access to Gemini 2.5 Pro features. For users of the AI Pro plan, upgrading to the Advanced tier costs an additional $10 per month, or it's included in the $249.99/month Google AI Ultra plan. New features unlocked by Gemini include the ability to search video history using complex queries and daily summaries of home activity.
With the rebranding of Nest Aware to Google Home Depot Premium, users now have more options to choose from based on their security needs and budget. The Advanced tier, along with the AI Pro plan, offers enhanced features and extended video history, providing users with a more comprehensive security experience.
