Green Week 2025: KazNARU Forum Unites Stakeholders for Sustainability Dialogue
Green Week 2025, a hybrid event hosted by KazNARU, brought together key stakeholders from government, academia, and international organizations to discuss sustainability and education. The forum saw the emergence of new partnerships and explored successful initiatives like 'green campus' and 'Monday against plastic'.
The event attracted prominent bodies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, IOFS, ICESCO, UNEP, FAO, and Erasmus Kazakhstan. Delegates discussed foundational pillars for long-term impact, including 'green campus', 'Monday against plastic', and 'digital campus'.
The hybrid format ensured broad accessibility, engaging participants from across Central Asia and beyond. A roundtable at Green Week brought together representatives from major Almaty universities to discuss SDG-focused education and institutional reform. Dr. Rafis Abazov, Vice-Rector of KazNARU, emphasized the university's role as a catalyst for sustainability dialogue.
Workshops, youth-led initiatives, hackathons, and strategic planning sessions aimed to embed sustainability principles into agricultural policy and innovation ecosystems. The Green Week programme launched a collaborative publication on biochar and smart agriculture with Pakistani universities. Vlastimil Samek, UN Representative, highlighted the global relevance of local leadership in sustainability initiatives.
