Rolex Introduces Groundbreaking GMT-Master II with Ceramic Dial and Left-handed Configuration

Rolex has unveiled a new iteration of its iconic GMT-Master II watch, featuring the Swiss watchmaker's first-ever ceramic dial and a left-handed configuration. This innovative timepiece, with the reference number 126729VTNR, showcases Rolex's commitment to material innovation and design excellence.

For the first time, Rolex has utilised high-technology ceramic material for the dial itself, marking a significant technical and aesthetic advancement. Previously, the brand had primarily employed ceramic for bezels to enhance scratch resistance and colour retention. The introduction of a ceramic dial enhances durability, scratch resistance, and offers a distinct, modern look while maintaining the traditional luxury appeal of Rolex watches.

The new model also brings a notable development in the evolution of the left-handed concept, often referred to as the "destro" design. In this watch, the winding crown is placed on the left side, traditionally designed for left-handed wearers. However, this new GMT-Master II ceramic dial model pairs this classic left-handed design with cutting-edge ceramic dial technology and premium materials, such as 18k white gold. This combination modernises and elevates the destro design with Rolex’s latest innovations in durability and style, offering a refined experience for left-handed enthusiasts or those who prefer this unique configuration.

The GMT-Master II (Ref. 126729VTNR) is equipped with Rolex's modern "true" GMT movement, Caliber 3285. The watch features a white gold case and bracelet, changing its personality from a sporty tool to something with genuine presence and heft. The watch's dial and bezel are both made of green Cerachrom ceramic, with the dial's colour matching perfectly with the existing bezel.

The combination of the green ceramic dial with white gold markers and hands creates a striking contrast that enhances legibility. The watch's bracelet is an 18k white gold Oyster with Easylink 5mm comfort extension. The green of the dial seamlessly continues the hue from the lower half of the bezel.

The watch's bidirectional 24-hour bezel enables tracking of a third time zone. The movement includes the brand's Chronergy escapement, Parachrom hairspring, and offers a 70-hour power reserve. The green dial is scratch-resistant and fade-proof, while the green and black Cerachrom bezel lacks the day/night division of the original blue/red "Pepsi" bezel.

The manufacturing of the dial requires precision and industrial might. The GMT hand no longer has a green stem but is now entirely white gold to avoid blending into the green dial. The watch is available now through authorized Rolex dealers at a retail price of $46,750. Due to its innovative design and limited production, the watch is expected to have extremely limited availability, particularly in the early months following release.

This model represents a significant technical and design leap within the GMT-Master II line, harmonising classic left-handed ergonomics with Rolex’s latest material technology.

This new Rolex GMT-Master II (Ref. 126729VTNR) blends traditional left-handed design with cutting-edge technology, making it a stylish addition to any collection of gadgets and luxury watches. With its green ceramic dial, 18k white gold case and bracelet, and the modern "true" GMT movement (Caliber 3285), this watch showcases Rolex's commitment to innovation and style in the realm of technology.
