Health and Safety Violations Found in Rheda-Wiedenbrück Catering Establishments
Authorities in Rheda-Wiedenbrück have uncovered several health and safety violations during joint control actions in local catering establishments. Inspections revealed inadequate sleeping areas, rodent infestations, unhygienic food preparation, and disregard for regulations.
In several restaurants, employee changing areas were converted into sleeping quarters without proper escape routes or fire extinguishers. Meanwhile, an Asian snack bar was found to prepare food in unhygienic conditions using a foul-smelling bathtub, with employees lacking proper hygiene training.
A rodent infestation was discovered in another restaurant, with mouse droppings visible on the buffet area. Fast-food outlets also faced scrutiny, with several found to have violated immediate notification requirements for social security and alien law regulations.
The Main Customs Office Bielefeld, along with other authorities, conducted the joint control actions. They aimed to uncover violations and crimes within their jurisdictions, including those related to social security, alien law, and public health. These inspections follow a previous cooperative control in April, which saw improved compliance with the obligation to carry identity documents in the industry.
Future coordination actions in the area are planned, involving the lead responsible office and coordination and specialist offices established under the 'Partnerships for Democracy' program. Authorities have pledged to continue joint control actions to ensure the safety and well-being of both employees and customers in Rheda-Wiedenbrück's catering establishments.
