Health Authorities Digitally Introduce Sick Leave Certification for Streamlined Medical Services
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has unveiled a fully digital system for handling sick leave attestations and medical reports, veering toward the UAE's Zero Government Bureaucracy Program. This move aims to bode well for streamlining processes, heightening efficiency, and bolstering customer satisfaction.
Individuals can now process sick leave attestations digitally through MoHAP's website or app using UAE Pass, eliminating the need for physical visits or paperwork. Transactions are paid electronically, hastening the process and minimizing delays. Sick leaves lasting up to five days will be automatically attested by the system, while extensions beyond this period will undergo review by a medical committee, with decisions communicated within one working day. If the leave extends beyond a month, the Supreme Medical Committee will issue approval following electronic payment of fees.
Requests for attestation should be submitted within one month of the sick leave issuance, applying to both private and government healthcare providers across the UAE, as well as documents obtained outside the country. However, external documents must secure prior attestation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Abdullah Ahli, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services, lauded the digital platform as a testament to MoHAP's pursuit of smart and customer-centric healthcare solutions. Amal Al Marzooqi, Director of the Customer Happiness Department, underscored the digitized system's design for speed, flexibility, and transparency.
The initiative aligns with the UAE's broader vision of harmonizing smart governance and cultivating a seamless public service experience.
- The digital system developed by MoHAP for handling sick leave attestations and medical reports is an example of the UAE government's commitment to innovation in the field of health and wellness, as part of their vision for the future.
- The new technology implemented by MoHAP in the health sector will not only streamline processes for individuals, but also increase efficiency, as transactions are now executed electronically and decisions regarding sick leaves are communicated within one working day.
- In line with the UAE's Zero Government Bureaucracy Program and focus on customer satisfaction, this digital platform for handling sick leave attestations will extend to health-and-wellness services across various healthcare providers, both private and government entities, and even internationally, signifying a leap in the nation's smart governance and public service experience.
