On September 9, 2025, luxury jewellery retailer Tiffany & Co. experienced a data breach. The company has launched an investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts, Mandiant, to determine the nature and extent of the attack.

The investigation has confirmed that the unauthorized party had accessed and obtained information related to customer gift cards. However, it's important to note that not all gift card numbers and associated PINs were stolen for every affected individual.

The compromised data includes client names, postal addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, sales data, and internal client reference numbers. Tiffany has taken steps to enhance the security of its systems and data in response to the breach.

Tiffany is sending out notification letters to affected individuals regarding the data breach. Affected individuals are encouraged to review their account statements and monitor their free credit reports from Credit Karma. Under U.S. law, individuals are entitled to one free credit report annually from each of the three major credit bureaus.

The company advises clients to be cautious of unsolicited communications asking for personal information or directing them to a web page asking for such details. Customers are urged not to click on links or download attachments from suspicious emails.

To date, Tiffany has no evidence that the stolen information has been misused. A toll-free number has been established for customers for further questions, available Monday through Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Eastern Time.

Tiffany has coordinated with law enforcement authorities regarding the incident. The company urges clients to stay vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
